Mike Hann
Mike Hann completed his PhD on Isosteric replacement studies in Enkephalins in 1980 and then worked as a medicinal chemist at Wyeth and then GD Searle in the UK. Around 1983 Mike developed an interest in computational chemistry which was then emerging as a new technique to aid drug discovery. In 1986 Mike joined Glaxo as a computational chemist. After various mergers Mike became Director of Computational Chemistry for GSK in the UK and more recently Director of Biomolecular Structure with a department that includes Protein Crystallography, Biophysics and Protein MS. Throughout this time Mike has maintained a strong interest in both lead generation and optimisation and how we can use both experimental and theoretical methods to understand the molecular mode of action of compounds.
